Biomicroneedling

Millions of natural needles, no motor. Only hands that measure the dose.

The freshwater sponge has a skeleton of microscopic bio-silica needles. Massaged into the skin under control, they open fine channels and start renewal — without bleeding and without downtime.

The method

Needles that come from nature

The freshwater sponge — Spongilla lacustris — does not have a soft skeleton. It is made of millions of microscopic bio-silica needles. Purified and carried in a fine powder, those needles become the working instrument. There is no motor and no cartridge: the force comes from massage, measured by hand.

The figure on the right is the reason this treatment exists: the skin stays presentable immediately. The spicules do not reach the larger vessels, so there is no bleeding, no crusting and no bruising — only a healthy flush that often fades within a few hours.

In biomicroneedling
What that means for you
Manual massage rather than a device
The pressure comes from the hand and adapts continuously. There is none of the risk of uneven micro-scratches that can occur when a device drags across skin that is too dry.
Depth limited by the nature of the needles
The spicules stop in the surface layers. That is both the limit of the method and its greatest advantage: almost no risk, almost no social pause.
Fine channels for the actives
Serums applied afterwards penetrate far better than into intact skin. Choosing the serum matters at least as much here as the massage itself.
An effect that continues at home
The spicules stay in the skin for 24 to 72 hours and work throughout, then break down naturally. The treatment does not end when you leave the studio.
Bio-silica rather than metal
The material is biocompatible and dissolves in the skin. For anyone with a genuine aversion to needles, this is often the only acceptable option.

Why it works

Renewal without a wound

A treatment with metal needles works through micro-injury: the skin repairs itself and, in repairing, rebuilds. Biomicroneedling takes a different route.

Spicules that reach the surface layers are perceived by the body as foreign material. The response is immediate: microcirculation increases, cells receive more oxygen, and the rate of cell renewal rises. All of it without an actual wound forming.

That is also where the distinctive sensation in the days afterwards comes from: when you touch your face, you feel a fine tingle. It is the sign that the spicules are still active. If you do not touch the skin, you feel nothing at all.

The session

Three steps, no surprises

Every session follows the same path: prepare the skin, work in the spicules, then introduce the actives.

Step 01

Consultation and preparation

We talk through your goal and your skin history, check contraindications and any sensitivities. Then comes cleansing and careful drying — the spicules only work properly on prepared skin.

Step 02

Massage with spicules

The powder is activated and massaged in firmly but under control, zone by zone. The sensation resembles a very fine, slightly abrasive scrub. You simply say if you want a zone worked more gently.

Step 03

Serums and calming

Through the freshly opened channels we introduce the serums chosen at the consultation. To finish, a calming mask and the protection your skin needs in the first hours.

Who it suits

What we can work on together

Biomicroneedling does not replace a deep treatment. It is the best maintenance treatment — and sometimes the only possible one.

Tired skin without radiance

This is where the effect is most visible and quickest. Intense oxygenation and accelerated renewal give the complexion a radiance that is noticeable the same day.

That is why the session is often booked before an occasion — without the risk of redness that lasts for days.

Uneven texture and visible pores

Exfoliation "from within" and faster renewal gradually refine the surface of the skin. For congested pores, a facial cleansing beforehand makes the difference.

For deeper irregularities or marks left after acne, a treatment with metal needles reaches further down. We say openly when that is the better answer.

Aversion to needles

If the thought of a needling device is the reason you have been putting this off for a year, this is the version that works. No device, no puncture, no bleeding.

The result is not identical to a deep microneedling — but it is real, and a session done is worth more than one postponed indefinitely.

Reactive skin

No steam, no acids, no heat: for skin that reacts quickly, biomicroneedling is often better tolerated than a peel.

With one important exception: on skin with active inflammation or highly reactive vessels, we do not work. We assess this at the consultation and choose something else if needed.

As maintenance between more intensive treatments

This is its best position. A deep microneedling is done a few times a year; biomicroneedling fills the gap monthly, keeping the skin cared for without interrupting anything in your calendar.

The products

What goes through the opened channels

An open channel is an opportunity — and a responsibility. Exactly what is applied after the massage matters, which is why we work with professional Genosys serums, medical-grade formulations not sold in shops.

The serum is not chosen for fashion but for your skin and the goal of the session. The same procedure, with different choices, leads to different results — and that is precisely the difference between a method and a protocol.

Common questions

What you want to know beforehand

Does it hurt?

No. During the massage the sensation resembles a fine, slightly abrasive scrub — there is no puncture.

Say at any point if you want a zone worked more gently. You set the pace.

What is that tingling afterwards?

It is the most unusual part of this treatment, so it deserves saying in advance: over the next 24 to 72 hours, when you touch your face — washing, applying a cream — you will feel a fine tingle, like a small electricity.

It is not irritation. It is the sign that the spicules are still active in the skin. If you do not touch your face, you feel nothing. It fades on its own once the spicules break down.

How do I look right after the session?

The skin has a healthy flush, as after a walk in cold air, and often visibly more radiance. On most skins the flush fades within a few hours.

It is the only needling treatment in the studio after which you can comfortably go to an engagement the same evening.

How is it different from microneedling with the Dermapen 4™?

In depth and in purpose. The Dermapen 4™ works with metal needles at adjustable depth and remodels the structure deep down — that is where scarring, firmness and deeper lines are addressed. In return it needs 24 to 48 hours of quiet afterwards.

Biomicroneedling stays at the surface and works through renewal rather than repair. It does not reach as far, but it asks for no pause. They are best used together: one builds, the other maintains.

How many sessions do I need?

A freshness effect is visible from the first session. For a change in texture that lasts, a monthly rhythm is what works.

We settle the exact number together at the consultation, after assessment.

When can biomicroneedling not be done?

The session is postponed or does not take place in cases including: a known allergy to freshwater sponge or to components of the product, active inflammatory acne, active herpes, infections or injuries of the skin in the treated area, active dermatitis or skin with marked vascular reactivity, recent sunburn, recent treatment with isotretinoin, and during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

As this is a product of natural origin, individual sensitivity is checked beforehand. We discuss all of this at the consultation. If you are on medication, bring that information with you. Where there is medical doubt, we send you to a doctor first — we do not improvise.

What do I do at home in the days after?

Most important: do not rub and do not exfoliate. For a few days, avoid products with acids or retinol, the sauna, the pool and sun exposure. Make-up is usually possible the same day.

Sun protection is essential. You receive written recommendations and the right products for home at the end of the session.

What does it cost?

The price depends on the area, the serums used, and the plan we agree together. You will be told clearly and in full at the consultation, before you decide anything — with no costs appearing along the way.
